Calgary Commercial Snow Removal Checklist
Ten things to settle before the first snowfall on a commercial or managed property.
- 01Walk the property in October and photograph surfaces while they're visible.
- 02List every surface that must be cleared: lanes, stalls, entrances, sidewalks, loading areas, ramps.
- 03Mark snow storage locations and confirm they don't block sightlines, stalls or catch basins.
- 04Identify where meltwater runs during a thaw and keep piles off those paths.
- 05Set the service trigger depth and the time your property must be accessible by.
- 06Confirm whether de-icing is included, on which surfaces, and how it's triggered.
- 07Agree a single point of contact and how you'll be updated during an event.
- 08Check that catch basins and drainage paths are clear before the first snowfall.
- 09Communicate the plan to tenants or residents before winter, not after a complaint.
- 10Decide what service documentation owners or the board will need.
